Archaeologists continuously explore to uncover ancient relics. Artifacts believed to have existed long before the Common Era are often unearthed. One of the oldest toys in the world, still preserved meticulously in a museum, is a toy car.
A toy car made of baked clay was discovered during surface searches at mound sites in the Kızıltepe District of Mardin (northern Kurdistan). It is the world’s oldest surviving toy, dating back to the Stone Age period around 5500 – 3000 BCE. Currently, this oldest toy car in the world is exhibited at the Mardin Museum in Turkey.
The world’s oldest toy car features a two-axle structure with four wheels. It is considered the earliest known evidence of a wheeled vehicle.
